So sorry, I know its been awhile since I've posted. My life has been quite unusual. With the tossing and turning throughout the night, rearranging my pillow fortress, working all day, I'm so tired when I get home at night. I just want to chill with the hubby, make some dinner and go to sleep. I ate some rice the other day and thought for sure either the rice or the baby was going to pop right out of my belly button-there is sooo not enough room in there for both, I was soooo uncomfortable. Thankfully both the rice and baby are doing OK and still chilling in the man cave.
Its so weird, just waiting for a baby to come that is. Its like I can't do too much, plus the weather is so crappy and I can't fly to Florida so Taylor and I just wait. We just wait for this kid to enter our lives. I know once Colton arrives Im going to crave this time that I'm bitching about right now, but for now, its just pretty boring...oh, and uncomfortable.
My best girlfriends are throwing me a baby shower this Saturday and I'm soooo excited. I'm excited about the shower, but I'm super excited to get together with all my girls on a Saturday night. Even though I will be sober yet again at a party, I can't wait! I will have many pictures to post from the fun event, so more to come.....

It's Been: Bad News along with Good News
So...I failed my glucose test. As I told you, I ate some food that day, not sure if that made a difference or not, but when I went in, she pricked my finger and told me right then and there that I failed. My heart sunk, I had only heard horror stories about 'the three hour' test. So a weekend went by and I had to go back on Tuesday for the three hour. I packed my work laptop, a book, and met my mom at the office. She came with me for moral support, which I am so thankful for b/c she really helped the time pass by as quickly as possible.
So I got there at 9am, they took a tube of blood and I had to drink that orange crap again. Being I was on am empty stomach, wasn't allowed to eat a thing or drink a sip of water after midnight, the orange crap tasted even worse this time, like a flavored syrup-sick! So I had to sit there, feeling nauseous for an hour, then at 10am, got another tube taken. After that had another tube taken at 11 then another at noon. All while I sat in the waiting room starving and soooo thirsty. Along with needing to pee every five minutes, a pregnant women can't get enough water and making her go thirsty for 12 hours doesn't suit well. Finally when noon got there, after my last tube my mom and I zoomed as quickly as possible and headed for Skyline chili for a cheese coney, a greek salad and a coke!
The next day I got a call from the doctors office and when I saw their numbers on my phone, my stomach sunk. I slowly and cautiously answered the phone, with a soft 'hello' and the other line said "You passed with flying colors!" Those were the nicest five words I had heard in a long ass time! So now I'm back to eating ice cream and chocolate and Colton is enjoying every morsel!

His grandparents: Paul and Pam

It's Been: A long five minutes
So I'm drinking this glucose drink in order to get my diabetic testing done in 45 minutes. This stuff doesn't look too bad on the outside, even the first sip isn't too bad. But man, when you get to the bottom, it gets a little rough to digest. I feel dizzy. Hmm..Do I really have to drink this last sip? Sick.
Hopefully that salad and black bean soup I just ate won't be a problem. I stayed away from sugar today, and its 1:21pm. I gotta tell you it was harder than I thought---everything has sugar in it! I mean, even my daily cereal, which isn't a sugary cereal, has sugar in it. So my food consumption has consisted of eggs and oatmeal (which I think probably has a little sugar in it, but not as much as my cereal), a salad w almonds and mushrooms and other veggies, and a 1/2 cup black bean soup. I'm hoping that is good enough to help me pass this test bc I sure as hell dont want to go sit and do it again for three hours!
Well, wish me luck--I will let you know how it goes...

It's been: A day full of good advice
Hi! So I went to lunch today with two new moms, one has a four month old, the other a two month old. Little did they know this was going to be a baby Q and A....they were so great about it and I wrote down the advice so I could share with any of you new moms to be. First piece of advice: car seat. They said the Graco Snug Ride is the best. However, just get the 'regular' size, not the 32 or 35 size. The numbers 32 and 35 are regarding the size of the baby in pounds. Are you really going to be carrying a 35 pound baby in a car seat...I think not unless you have large muscles! So the regular size is perfect for a newborn all the way to twenty something pounds-its easiest to tote. Second piece of advice: high chair. They said the best high chairs are the 'portable high chairs'. You can set a high chair in a regular chair, strap it to it! Its easy to travel with, easy to clean and easy to store. They said Graco again has the best chair. Third piece of advice: Chair. One of the girls swears by the Bobby lounger. She said her little boy sleeps in there all the time, its easy to transport and he just chills in there while she showers, she feeds him in it, etc. Fourth piece of advice: registering. They said that babies r us will give you a 15% off card for after you have the baby to purchase anything on your registry that was not purchased for you. However, one thing they don't tell you is that you can only use this on things you have registered for within six weeks of your childs birth. So...register for as much stuff as you can, and after your baby showers, register for things that you may not have wanted to show on your registry so that you can go back and get 15% off of those items. OK, well thats all I got folks, hopefully that helps a little for those of you when doing the overwhelming task of registering!!

It's Been: Akward!
We went baby registering yesterday, also known as 'instant panic attack'. I don't know what to or what not to register for, so I just did it all. My friend gave me a five page list of what you will need when you have a baby so I just went wild-breast pump and all. Its not like when I've gone to baby showers I think, "Aw, how fun and cute, I'll get her breast pads for when she leaks, she will love these!" But for some reason I decided to register for these items that creep me out, ie breast pads, nipple cream and bottle/nipple cleaner just b/c I didn't know otherwise. Note to everyone: do not feel the need to get me these types of things, I am going to use my registry as a checklist for myself of things to purchase before the little guy gets here! Any other suggestions of items to register for??
It's been: Quite a Road
My name is Jessie Broughton and I'm married to Taylor and we're having a baby, whom we called 'Itsbeen' for the first couple months. Its a play on words, like, bring it on-- itsbeenbroughton...got it? Well most people that we've told this to 50+ haven't gotten it so in case you didn't...just ask a young person. So I thought it would only make sense to name my blog-its been broughton. Also, in case you are wondering, we did change the name of baby from Itsbeen to Colton. Colton Alexander Broughton. I'm 27 weeks today and its been quite a ride!
It's been a very long and interesting pregnancy. It all began in July and my first trimester included the "normal" tiredness. I would get home from work and be asleep by 7:30pm. T hated it. He was so bored, because even our dog, Dexter, knew there was something going on with me and he would come lay beside me each night and leave T getting all the Sports Center in that he could ever imagine. I'm a tennis player and on a competitive team and usually play 2-3 times a week. Well once I learned I was pregnant and matches would begin right around month six, I felt I should give up this season and focus on being pregnant. That was pretty rough in the beginning and even tougher now, once matches have begun and I have gone to watch as a supporter, damn, I want to be on the court! Soon enough...
Well I needed some exercise to add to my sleep regiman so I began pre natal yoga at the gym. I went to about a month of classes, rolling my neck, doing stretches, and felt so after each session. Well, I started getting this feeling of 'gravel in my neck'. There is really no other way to describe it, it literally felt like every time I moved my head, it felt like there was grinding going on, and I could hear a crunching sound. That got worse and was accompioned by stiffness and pain in my neck. When driving, I would just cry and cringe when I had to change lanes or make a turn becuase I knew the pain was coming, just having to look left then right. To make matters worse, headaches, awful, day long headaches would partner up with this neck pain, leaving me waking up at 2am to put frozen broccli on my neck at night-it was a pain in my ass to say the least! Well, I found out I had actually sprained my neck. I mean, who does that, sprain their neck diong PRE NATAL yoga?! Only me. Well that lasted 8 fing weeks, yea, 8 weeks! But luckily at that time was right when baby Colton was beginning to move around and I could feel him in my belly. It truly would make everything better, just knowing he was happy and healthy and kicking around in his man cave, being my stomach.
Things have only gotten better since then, and in fact I was up for a couple hours last night feeling him squirm around and at one point I felt him move across my entire stomach, it was like he was swimming back stroke from one side to the other, back and forth. I feel like I should eat a pair of goggles so he can have some while doing all that swimming. Best thing is, he was still shuffling around this morning so Taylor could enjoy the movement but right when Taylor does his ritual of talking to my belly and telling Colton good morning, all movement subsided and Colton went right back to lounging. A few weeks ago when Taylor was talking to Colton at 6am, telling him to move around so Daddy could feel him for the first time, Colton kicked Daddy right in the face. It was so perfect and hysterical. Right in the ole lipper he socked him!
